Round 1
Chayo fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Russell. The fighters jockey for position in the clinch. "The Knot" attempts to pull guard, but slips, putting him on the ground, and with Rory Russell standing over him. Rory attempts to drop a fist on "The Knot", but misses and lands in his guard. Rory Russell tries to pass guard but Chayo Mendoza stops him with a well timed punch. Mendoza begins to work the rubber guard. Rory drops some good punches while being caught in the guard. Rory Russell tries to pass guard but Chayo stops him with a well timed punch. The round comes to an end.

Round 2
Mendoza eats a jab,jab, then a hook from Rory Russell. A single-leg attempt is well defended by Rory Russell. Chayo Mendoza stands up, lifting the leg of Rory Russell and executing a trip takedown. Rory Russell connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. An heel strike attempt is dodged by Chayo Mendoza and he traps Rorys extended leg to move to half guard. Chayo Mendoza slams his knee into Rory Russells ribs. "The Knot" tries to pull his leg out of half guard, but no luck. Mendoza slips out of half guard and into side control. Round 2 is over.

Round 3
Rory Russell narrowly dodges a cross from Mendoza, but falls catching him in his guard. Mendoza drops some good punches while being caught in the guard. "The Knot" takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Russells guard. It doesn't pay off as Russell makes his way to standing. Russell throws a cross that easily dodged by Chayo Mendoza. "The Knot" keeps Russell at a distance with some well timed jabs. "The Knot" wraps around Rory Russells waist, and drags him to his back, taking side control Chayo lands a few stiff elbows from side control. Rory gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. The round comes to an end.
