Round 1 Both fighters trade glancing shots continuing to find their respective range. Buster Barber narrowly dodges a cross from Velasquez, but falls catching him in his guard. Buster is hit with a series of powerful punches while utilizing the guard. Velasquez pushes down Barbers leg, allowing him to pass guard into half guard. Fortunato is able to slip into mount from the half guard. Barber gets pummeled by the fists of Fortunato. Barber gives up his back in an attempt to escape, but doesn't quite make it. Buster starts to wiggle out of back control, Fortunato lets him escape putting them both on their feet. The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. Velasquez stuffs a shot from Buster Barber and strikes two solid knees to his skull. Buster Barber is stunned and Velasquez takes mount with in a quick scramble. Round 1 is finished.
Round 2 Fortunato throws a push kick. Barber shucks it and strikes with a overhand that crashes into Fortunato Velasquezs nose.
Both fighters trade shots and back away looking for the next opening. Buster Barber throws a hard jab but Fortunato Velasquez throws a cross right over the top rocking Buster Barber. Fortunato Velasquez lands a strong outside leg kick but is hit with a strong uppercut. Fortunato attempts to clinch, but Buster connects with an uppercut to the jaw. Buster Barber dives in for a takedown but the momentum of the attempt ends in a scramble back to their feet. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.

Buster connects with jab cross combination. Fortunato Velasquez continually moves away from Barber, who stalks him patiently, occasionally landing a jab or cross. Fortunato Velasquez peppers Buster with a flurry of punches that cannot be kept up with. Fortunato connects with 1-2 jab hook combo and quickly steps away. A jab-hook-uppercut combo has Buster Barber stepping back and shaking the cobwebs out. Round 3 comes to a close.
