Round 1 Hitoshi Funabashi takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. Hayden narrowly dodges a cross from Funabashi, but falls catching him in his guard. Ben Hayden connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. Funabashi presses the action while in the guard, but Ben Hayden is able to switch him into mount. Hayden splits Hitoshi Funabashis nose open with a well timed punch. Hayden maintains mount but laying some well timed strikes. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 2 Ben is staggered by a jab to the chin. Ben Hayden circles Hitoshi Funabashi, mixing jabs and leg kicks. Ben Hayden circles Hitoshi, mixing jabs and leg kicks. Hayden ducks and weaves through a quick combo from Funabashi and knocks him back with a shovel punch to the jaw. The fighters circle each other. Hitoshi connects with a right that puts Ben off balance tumbling to the mat, as Hitoshi towers over him. Round 2 is over.
Round 3 Hitoshi is hit with a jab and then taken down by a beautiful single-leg takedown. A kimura attempt from Funabashi is countered by a punch from Ben, who then transitions to half guard. Hayden opens a cut over the eye of Hitoshi. The doctor takes a look at it, and says he's okay to continue. Hayden slips out of half guard and into side control. Hitoshi Funabashi takes a few knees to the body while under Haydens side control. Ben Hayden drops some hammer fists on Hitoshi. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
